Will your portfolio blow their minds? Or just blow? That’s the challenge FCB Canada is putting to all advertising and design students as host agency of this year’s ADC Portfolio Night in a series of humorous videos that bring to life the reality and fickleness of Toronto’s Creative Directors.

“Great work is often subjective. While one creative director may love a piece, another will rip it apart. It can be a series of highs and lows for students. We used a simple visual device to acknowledge that, says Nancy Crimi-Lamanna, Co-Chief Creative Officer of FCB Toronto.”

Portfolio Night will bring together thousands of young creatives and hundreds of creative directors in simultaneous events around the world on May 23rd of this year. The largest portfolio review in the world, the event aims to nurture talent and give them the opportunity to showcase their talent to the best Creative Directors in each city. It also acts as the single largest recruiting event in the industry.

The most talented student, as voted by the attending creative directors, will also win a trip to New York to participate in Portfolio Night All-Stars where they’ll join the All-Stars from other host cities to collaborate on a real-world global brand brief.

“Toronto is the birthplace of Portfolio Night so it was important for us to participate and help guide the next generation of Toronto talent so, of course, when ADC reached out to us to host it, we were honoured to be a part of it, says Jeff Hilts, Co-Chief Creative Officer of FCB Toronto.”

Portfolio Night 14 is open to young creative professionals from advertising, digital and design agencies and also senior students of art colleges. Participants will need to register on their respective city’s page on the Portfolio Night website  and click on the “Buy Tickets” button for registration.
